About us

The Badminton department came out of a gay and lesbian group of badminton players called the "Rosa Feder Saarbrücken" (i.e. Pink Feathers Saarbruecken). Whether young or old, beginners or advanced players, everyone interested in that passioning sport is welcome. By now we are approx. 24 sports(wo)men. We don't expect any sporty highlights. Fun in playing badminton is what we are looking for. For sportily ambitioned lesbians and gays we even offer the opportunity to participate at international tournaments, whereby also there our slogan stays the same: "Just be part of".

Training

At present we have 3 courts on Wednesday and 4 on Saturday. If interested you may take classes under the eyes of a coach to learn or improve yourself (muscular strain guaranteed). Of course there are costs too: if you come regularly to the training (3.5 hrs. per week) it's about 17€ per month. Just come along and see, your first visit will be free of charge and obligation.

Tournaments

For quite some time many of us participate at international gay and lesbian badminton tournaments. In spite of her or his skills everyone might take part in these tournaments. We plays with women and men in 4 categories, that fit these different skills. Beside of single and double competitions now more and more mixed competitions are offered. We are glad about medals - of course - but try never to forget our slogan: "Just be part of".

Information on the current tournament dates under are found at www.gaysport.info.

Outstanding events were our participations in the Gay Games 1998 in Amsterdam and 2002 in Sydney. Information on these games you will get on the Gaygames page. Besides also the participation in the Eurogames are of great interest.
